The Territorial collectivity (form of local self-government under French law) of Saint-Quentin en Yvelines gets rid of viruses and spam thanks to e-securemail
Since 2004, with the e-securemail service of Secuserve the conurbation community of Saint-Quentin en Yvelines eliminates virus and spam threats.
Overview.
Saint-Quentin en Yvelines is a public inter-municipal cooperation establishment (EPCI)gathering seven municipalities (over 147,000 inhabitants): Elancourt, Guyancourt, La Verrière, Magny-les-Hameaux, Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Trappes and Voisins-le-Bretonneux. 700 users have an email address provided by the EPCI. The IT department (20 employees) and two administrators (Mr Hervé Jannin and Mrs Joëlle Holmes) are in charge of the messaging system.
The issue
Mrs Holmes and Mr Jannin remember what the situation was like before SECUSERVE: “One employee was managing an Aladdin SMTP relay and two anti-viruses. Updating and upgrading our anti-virus software used to be troublesome. We had several virus infections and SMTP relay used to lose connection; as a result our messaging system would not be available. The EPCI did not have enough time or the necessary competencies; this is why we decided to outsource our email security”.
The solution
“We have considered several solutions and services and have eventually chosen e-securemail from Secuserve says Joëlle Holmes. Stéphane Bouché, CEO of Secuserve, explains: “e-securemail is a managed email filtering service. It filters incoming and outgoing messages to and from the network of the conurbation community of Saint-Quentin en Yvelines. More specifically, four anti-virus engines enable us to protect the system against viruses; and sixteen complementary technologies to protect it against spam. This service does not require any software or hardware installation. In addition, every customer can access the online administration console”.
The outcome
“We have now been using e-securemail since 2004 without any trouble. The service is constantly evolving to face new threats. We did not suffer from any virus infection via email. We spend less time managing our messaging system. We find the e-securemail service reporting particularly convenient; it allows us to clearly identify email traffic and threats to our domains. Finally, the quality of the technical phone support is good” states Mr JANNIN.
The CEO of Secuserve concludes: “Administrations and public authorities currently represent 50% of our activity. We are glad they pay attention to their messaging system as well as to the security of these systems. We are also proud they have chosen to outsource the management of these services to Secuserve”.
